Water leak detection in your area
Hepta finds hidden water leaks in your area: under floors, behind walls, in ceilings and on supply pipes. We trace the source with the right equipment, explain what we find and repair the pipe or fitting. Call 07477 877199 or send the details if you have damp, stains or a meter that keeps turning.
What it covers
Not every leak announces itself. Some show up as a stain on a ceiling, a damp patch on a wall or a floor that feels cold and soft. Others show up only on the water meter, or in the sound of water running when everything is switched off.
Finding the leak is the hard part, and it is worth doing properly. Guessing leads to opening floors and walls in the wrong places. We work methodically: isolating sections of the system, checking pressure and tracing the source before anything is cut open.
- Tracing leaks under floors and behind walls
- Checking heating pipework for slow losses
- Testing supply pipes for pressure drop
- Finding the source of ceiling stains and damp patches
- Repairing the pipe, joint or fitting once found
- Advising on repairs to affected surfaces
When to call
- A water meter that keeps moving when nothing is in use
- Damp patches or stains on ceilings and walls
- A heating system that keeps needing to be topped up
- The sound of running water when everything is off
How it goes
- Step 1
We ask what you have noticed and where.
- Step 2
We isolate sections of the system and test to narrow the area.
- Step 3
We locate the leak with minimal disruption and explain the options.
- Step 4
We repair it and advise on drying and any surface repairs.

Questions about water leak detection
Not here? Call 07477 877199 and ask.
Switch off everything that uses water, then check the water meter. If it keeps moving, water is escaping somewhere. Other signs are damp patches, stains, musty smells and a heating system that keeps losing pressure.
We try to avoid it. We narrow the location with pressure testing and isolation first, so any opening is small and precise. If an opening is needed, we explain where and why before we make it.
Yes. Condensation, rising damp, a blocked gutter or a failed seal can all look like a plumbing leak. We check the plumbing first, and tell you if the cause lies elsewhere so you do not pay for the wrong fix.
Yes. Small losses under floors or inside walls can drain heating pressure with nothing visible. Pressure testing and isolation help us trace them. A boiler that needs frequent topping up is a strong clue.
It might be. Check the meter with everything switched off. If it keeps turning, there is a leak somewhere between the meter and your taps. Contact us and we will find it.
We are based in Epsom and cover Epsom, Ewell, Ashtead, Leatherhead, Banstead, Cheam, Sutton and Worcester Park, along with Stoneleigh, Esher, Chessington, Cobham, Surbiton, Kingston upon Thames, New Malden, Carshalton, Wallington, Purley, Coulsdon, Reigate, Redhill, Croydon, Morden and Wimbledon. Each of those has its own page for water leak detection, and you can also send us your town through the contact form.
Turn everything off and check the water meter. If it still moves, there is a leak. Check the stopcock and mark any wet area. Take photos of stains so you can see if they spread.
Where you see damp, when it started, whether the heating needs topping up, and any recent work on the house. Meter readings taken an hour apart with everything off are very useful.
Leaks come from failed joints, corroded pipes, fixings that have loosened, and sometimes from past building work that left a pipe under strain.
