Hot water systems and cylinders in your area
Hepta repairs and replaces hot water cylinders, immersion heaters, pumps and controls in your area. If your hot water runs out, never gets hot or a cylinder is leaking, we diagnose the fault and explain whether repair or replacement is best. Call 07477 877199 or send us details of the system.
What it covers
Hot water problems range from a lukewarm shower to a cylinder weeping onto the airing cupboard floor. The cause can be the cylinder itself, an immersion heater, a thermostat, a valve, a pump or the boiler feeding it.
We work through the system in order and tell you what we find. Where a cylinder is failing, we explain the replacement options, including vented and unvented types, and what suits your home and water pressure.
- Hot water cylinder repair and replacement
- Immersion heater and thermostat replacement
- Unvented and vented cylinder work
- Pumps, motorised valves and controls
- Fixing hot water that runs out too soon
- Descaling and treatment advice
When to call
- Hot water runs out much faster than it used to
- Water is lukewarm or takes a long time to heat

Questions about hot water systems
Not here? Call 07477 877199 and ask.
Possible causes include scale on an immersion element, a failed thermostat, a coil that is no longer transferring heat, or a cylinder too small for the household. We check each and explain what we find.
A leak from the cylinder body usually means replacement, while a leaking joint or valve can be repaired. We look at where the water is coming from and tell you which applies.
Vented cylinders are fed from a tank in the loft and give lower pressure. Unvented cylinders run on mains pressure and give stronger showers. The right choice depends on your property and supply.
A tripping immersion is often scale on the element, a failing thermostat or a wiring fault. We test the element and thermostat and replace the failed part if that is the cause.
Sometimes. Faster recovery, better insulation, correct thermostat settings and descaling can all help. If demand is genuinely higher than the cylinder can supply, we will explain the options.
We are based in Epsom and cover Epsom, Ewell, Ashtead, Leatherhead, Banstead, Cheam, Sutton and Worcester Park, along with Stoneleigh, Esher, Chessington, Cobham, Surbiton, Kingston upon Thames, New Malden, Carshalton, Wallington, Purley, Coulsdon, Reigate, Redhill, Croydon, Morden and Wimbledon. Each of those has its own page for hot water systems, and you can also send us your town through the contact form.
Check the timer and thermostat settings, see whether the immersion switch is on and whether the boiler is firing. Note how long the hot water lasts and whether it is hot or only warm.
The type of system (combi, cylinder or tank), the age of it if you know, how many people use it and any recent changes at home.
Scale on heating elements, failed thermostats, sludge in the cylinder coil and under-sized cylinders are the usual reasons for weak hot water.
